Samuel Dishon

Samuel Dishon is a saxophonist and arts professional working in the nonprofit arts sector and based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He currently serves as a Program Coordinator at CultureSource, a nonprofit arts service organization in Detroit, where he works on programs and initiatives supporting arts and culture organizations throughout Southeast Michigan. Originally from Irvine, California, Samuel is building a career at the intersection of performance and arts administration.

As a soloist and chamber musician, Samuel has performed throughout the United States and internationally in Switzerland and Belgium, earning top prizes in competitions including MTNA, Fischoff, Briggs, and Concert Artists Guild.

As an orchestral musician, Samuel has performed with the University of Michigan Symphony Orchestra and Contemporary Directions Ensemble. In 2025, he made his Carnegie Hall debut with the University of Michigan Symphony Orchestra as part of its New York City and South Africa tour. He has also appeared as a featured soloist with the Euclid Symphony Orchestra, performing Alexander Glazunov’s Saxophone Concerto after winning the ensemble’s Young Artist Competition.

Samuel earned his Bachelor’s degree in Saxophone Performance from the University of Michigan in 2024 and completed Master’s degrees in Saxophone Performance and Chamber Music in 2026. He also holds a Graduate Certificate in Arts Entrepreneurship and Leadership from Michigan, where he studied saxophone with Timothy McAllister. Beyond performing and arts administration, Samuel is an avid educator and maintains a private teaching studio in the Ann Arbor area. Outside of music, he can usually be found on the basketball court or experimenting with a new recipe.
